Roadmap to Completion of Zone 2 - The Steamworks Foundry

It's been a couple of weeks since my last devlog post, so it's time for a new update!

Coming back from vacation, I felt rejuvenated and ready to get to work on all the new content. I've been hard at work finishing up armor sets and making new stages and enemies. The armor sets are almost completely finished  - all that remains are the new spellcaster robe sets. Here are a couple previews of these new sets:

In addition, there are a couple of new enemies fully implemented into the game, plus some new designs that will be transformed into fully completed enemies! Here is a video showcasing one of the new foes, Hard Head:

But of course, there's still plenty more work to do before the demo is finished. As of right now, quite a bit of work has been completed - the Forge is functionally complete with only some cosmetic changes being needed. Most of the new armor sets are animated and implemented. Some new enemies are implemented and the first two stages have been designed. What remains are finishing the main stages, plus filling the world with NPCs, some cutscenes, a few secrets, and more.

------------------

As of 8-17-2024, these are the main areas that need to be completed before the new zone will be released:

1. Finish the remaining stages. Stages 2-1 and 2-2 are done. Preliminary animations are complete for the next couple of enemies, and design is being done for even more. Stage creation itself is pretty fast - it's making the new enemies that takes time.

2. Make the new boss fight. I'm still deciding the details on this, but a few ideas have come to me.

3. Fill the world with NPCs and their dialogue. This one won't be too bad since most of the puppets needed are already made.

4. Cutscenes. One for sure will be after the second boss is defeated. I'm staying tight-lipped on anything else.

5. Add in the Dwarf as a playable race. This race focuses on crafting, but it didn't make sense to include them in the demo since the Forge did not yet exist.

6. Complete the Forge, as well as the new storekeeper that will sell you gems and other crafting material.

7. Add in a secret here and there. I'll leave these up to you to find.

8. Fix a few small bugs from the demo, as well as some balancing changes and such.

9. Finish up some extra artwork for background objects and such. Most of these objects are done, so there isn't a whole lot of extra work to do here.

10. Finish composing the new level and battle theme. I've got something started for both, but nothing worth showing yet.

11. Other minor detail work - not too much here since a lot of this was taken care of before the final demo build was released.

-----------------

My goal is to make an October release for this demo, but depending on how ambitious I get with the new content November could very well be possible as well. There's a lot of exciting stuff in the pipeline, and I can't wait to reveal more in the coming weeks!
