Build v0.20, containing Zone 2 - The Steamworks Foundry - is RELEASED


It's finally here - after more than four months of constant work, build v0.20 is finally RELEASED! This build contains Zone 2 - The Steamworks foundry. This huge update more than doubles the length of the base game, adding in a huge amount of content that will challenge you in new and inventive ways in your quest to become the Battle Tower Champion!

I won't waste any time delving in to what's here and ready for play. Here's a list of all the new features included in this build:

-15 new playable stages containing a variety of different enemies - enemies are smarter than before and some will work together in different ways!

-The Forge is live. This is a feature I've promised ever since I first launched this page a year and a half ago, and that feature is now here. The Forge lets you craft custom enchanted gear using gems that you can purchase, or if you're lucky, find. This feature will be expanded to include runes and alloys in future updates.

-A new playable race: the Dwarf! This race focuses on crafting gear, so you'll definitely appreciate his bonuses once you can make use of this forge.

-New items that permanently enhance your character's stats

-Blessing shrines that grant permanent bonuses after key battles or special events

-New spells and powerful gear to purchase

-A handful of secrets on the new hub world

-Many new NPCs and conversations - more than double the previous total!

-Crunchy new chiptune songs composed specifically for these levels

-Lots of updates on old sprite artwork, giving them additional detail and shading they lacked before.

-A completely overhauled character creation screen

-Enhanced screen resolution - going from 360x240 (3:2) to 360x270 (4:3)

-Various bug fixes

-A special challenge in the hub world

-New mechanic added: Thaumatic Resonance. This will come into play when you begin enchanting items.

I've also included some changes and QoL features that have been requested or were needed:

-Pressing the Inventory and Spell Book hotkeys now cancels out when you are on their page, or takes you to them if you aren't.

-Slime spit has been re-colored to make it contrast more with the floor.

-Magic Barrier has been reworked to block one enemy projectile per player level - this makes it not-useless now. This is especially needed given how later levels play out.

-Parry is far stronger now - it will now block all enemy projectiles irrespective of their damage, with a few exceptions.

-Potions have been changed to heal multiple of 50 HP/Mana, as opposed to 33%, 66%, and 100%. This will benefit you more in earlier stages.

-Dropped items no longer get stuck on walls if an enemy dies right next to one - it will drop to a place where you can get them.

I've kept updates sparse so as to not give away everything that I've added, so I'm really excited for you to discover everything that's been added. I'll add more screenshots and videos in the weeks to come, and after a badly-needed break plus a mid-demo update to put any fires and issues that players find, development will begin on Zone 3. What is this new zone? You'll find out when you play!
