Zone 3 Roadmap - Upcoming Features and Additions

With development on Zone 3 having begun as of last week, it's time to post a more detailed roadmap on where Tower of the Immortals is headed.

The Forge was the last major planned feature that needed to be added, but a lot of the focus in the third zone will be not just adding more content and story, but also refining and extending existing features within the game. Feedback on the game has become a lot more positive overall as I've continued to address concerns and issues that crop up, as well as add features that have been requested by lots of players.

---------------

To that end, Zone 3 will contain the following NEW content, which will largely build upon what was seen in Zone 2 but with a little extra:

-15 new stages, plus a miniboss and OPTIONAL boss fight

-A new hub world with many new NPCs, even more interesting interactions, and additional cutscenes

-Tons of new items and several spells

-Lots of new enemies that possess additional abilities and intelligent AI that is new to what you have seen before

-Throwing weapons. This will open up a way to do melee damage at range instead of just using swords

-Controller support! This has been something a lot of people have requested, both in-person and online.

-Optional grinding for people who are stuck on a certain section. I don't want people to get completely discouraged if they're totally stuck on a certain level.

--------------

But what about refining existing content? The character builder got a nice overhaul in the Zone 2 update, but it's time to take it even further. As it stands, the playable races of the game aren't well-differentiated. They do get some difference in stats and progression, but not enough to make much of a difference in how you approach combat. This is going to change in Zone 3, as what race you pick will make much more of a difference as you progress through the levels.

Existing content will see the following updates:

-All races will receive a customized list of feats. Currently, all races get the same feats save for a single racial feat that is too expensive to get at this stage in the game. Starting with the Zone 3 update, there will only be a handful of common feats and a substantial number of unique feats that only that race gets, or may be shared with only one or two others. You'll also see differences in how far you can progress with these feats some races can go further than others in the same feat!

-Extended forge functionality. Runes and alloys were always meant to be included, and I intend to introduce this to make the Forge fully realized.

-Refined UI functionality, particularly for key bindings as introducing controller support requires adapting the existing system

-Introducing an overhaul of spells. This is something that may not be fully done until a later update, but I want spells to remain relevant throughout the game. As such, I want to introduce a scaling mechanic for spells that allows them to grow stronger with your character. How this will be implemented is still being decided, but before full implementation I'll introduce something that improves what already exists.

--------------

I've got a few other ideas as well, but I don't want to state them as doing so will make players want to see it in the next major build!
